Meltham Carlile Institute, Asset Transfer Project
Community Asset Transfer project – in 2013 the residents of Meltham West Yorkshire decided to do something about an abandoned beautiful building in the centre of their town. They set up community business with a view to taking over control of the building. It is testament to the passion and determination of the residents, that the Carlile Institute building now operates; as the town library, post office, community space with catering, bar, and meeting rooms, a base for community clubs, the base for the town council and offers commercial serviced accommodation for local business.
Our involvement in project was to ensure the insurance cover was adequate and correct for the various uses of the premises, and to protect the management team who give up their time without financial reward – all at the best price.
